Georgia Top Credits & Incentives
Businesses operating in the State of Georgia have numerous incentives available to help offset the cost of retraining employees, hiring employees, or making new investments. The credits have been around a long time and have helped to shape Georgia’s image as a great place to do business.

Georgia Military Zone Tax Credit
The Job Tax Credit Program, stipulated by O.C.G.A. § 48-7-40.1, offers additional incentives to specific census tracts or other designated areas deemed underdeveloped or with a high poverty prevalence. In 2004, the military zone designation was incorporated through House Bill 984. This alteration enables census tracts adjacent to a military base, and suffering from a minimum of 15 percent poverty, as shown in the latest ten-year census, to be eligible for the highest benefit level under the Job Tax Credit Program.
Furthermore, any business, regardless of its nature, can avail this credit provided it fulfills all the other program criteria. In 2008, an amendment was passed lowering the job creation threshold from 5 jobs to 2 jobs.
